Case 88: Abdominal Pain

Your patient is a 72 year old male with lower abdominal pain and an inability to pass urine for 12 hours. Upon history taking and examination, you establish the following:

  • Preceding 6 month history of obstructive urinary tract symptoms with decreasing urinary flow and worsening frequency and nocturia, urgency and dribbling.
  • No visible haematuria and no systemic symptoms.
  • No bone pain or weight loss.
